Australia’s eastern states in danger of blackouts

Since Tuesday 4:30AM Australian Eastern Standard Time, states along the east of Australia have been on the brink of blackouts. In total, five states are in danger of losing power, with forecasts ranging from 4:30PM to midnight. Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Tasmania could be affected. The cause of the potential blackouts is the shutdown of coal and gas generators turning off power plants countrywide, as a result of rising wholesale electricity prices.
