Falafel (known as “Ta’meya” in Egypt and “al-Bajiya” in Yemen) was introduced to Australia by Middle-Eastern migrants. Dib Ghazal was one of those migrants and his son Hoda is working at the restaurant he established: Adbul’s in Surrey Hills, New South Wales. It began as a sweets shop but transitioned into making and serving Arab cuisine in the early 1970’s. His son Hoda is now running the family-owned restaurant.
