A light ocean breeze, sea view, seafood on the grill…
“seas the day!”
Need a getaway but don’t have the money to visit the Greek Islands? Don’t worry. Right in the heart of the Mornington Peninsula, you can find a venue which has the atmosphere of the Greek islands, serving delicious Greek food which includes both traditional and modern dishes. Dine at Alatonero and you will get a sense of Greek freedom.
I had recently returned from a trip to Greece and was very upset – homesickness had overwhelmed me in the worst way. My brother offered to take us all out for a late lunch to lighten my mood and lift my spirits. Not knowing Melbourne very well, everything was new to me. We drove and drove – the drive was amazing – the ocean views taking me back to Greece. Suddenly there it was, right in front of me – Alantonero – a little piece of Greece. It really felt like I had returned.
The restaurant at the front is decorated in the colours of the Mediterranean and looks superb. It certainly gave me a lift before I even sat down. The service was great – fast and very friendly. Portions were very generous, and the tastes were sensational. We were helped with how much food we would need because everything is designed to share. Greek dining is all about “mezzes” which are various plates of dips – octopus, salads, saganaki (fried cheese). The fried calamari and the spinach & feta pastries were great starters. I personally am a fish eater, and the seafood was fabulous. The food was so delicious that even when we were full, we still wanted to try everything on the menu. Well, we tried anyway.
I think Alantonero has to have one of the most delicious menus on the Peninsula. The vegetarian dishes also looked scrumptious, with various options. All in all, my friends, it’s a total Greek experience with a cheery and relaxed seaside atmosphere.
I took a little stroll around the place and came upon a Greek-style terrace. Very casual, and perfect for the summer months in Melbourne, since there is no roof. Alantonero would be a perfect venue to host your next special event. I know where I’ll be having my next birthday party. Alantonero satisfies all your senses and evokes the laid back freedom of Greece. In conclusion, what can I say except – let the sea set you free!
Good day! Do you use Twitter? I’d like to follow you if that would be okay.
I’m undoubtedly enjoying your blog and look forward to new posts.
