Australia will be participating in the UAE expo in 2020. The Dubai expo is expected to attract 25 million visitors across 173 days from 20 October 2020.
Victoria became the first state to sign up to the Australia Pavillion which will be held in Dubai. Australia will be given the opportunity to showcase its capabilities to the world with such things as it’s culture, nightlife, food, wine, tourism and much more. This year they are expecting around 25 million visitors with a majority of these people coming from South Asia, Western Europe, North Asia and South-East Asia.
The expo will provide a platform to showcase Australia’s elite tourism, sports and major events destinations. This is an incredible opportunity for Australia as a whole.
Events will include an extensive list of options such as live performances, global celebrations, health and happiness, business ideas and arts and culture. Australian companies have already secured a number of contracts related to the event, including architectural and construction projects worth more than 100 million USD.
Brisbane-based architecture firm Bureau Proberts and its long-time collaborator Urban Art Projects (UAP) have been announced as the designers for the Australian pavilion at Expo 2020 in Dubai.
The Australian pavilion will be one of 190 national pavilions at the event, which will be the first world expo staged in the Middle East.
Bureau Proberts director Liam Proberts said the national pavilion would “bring a taste of Australia to Dubai.
“A visit to this pavilion will feel like a visit to Australia – welcoming and uplifting. That’s our goal as architects and as Queenslanders,” he said.
“We’re well versed in the types of climatic conditions we’ll encounter in Dubai. There’s a great synergy between our two regions and we look forward to leveraging them to great effect.”
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) has appointed Icon Agency to lead the communications and marketing for Australia’s pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.
