Kahlil Gibran was a Persian writer, poet and artist (6 January 1883 – 10 April 1931). The “Kahlil Gibran: The Garden of the Prophet” exhibition celebrates the life and works of this literary genius. His literary works have inspired some of the most influential figures of our time, from Indira Gandhi to Elvis Presley, John Lennon and David Bowie.
A major aspect of this exhibition is his writings to his lover and friend, and the displays offer an opportunity to see up close his writing and painting implements, including his desk, watercolours and ink pens. The exhibition also includes a personal copy of ‘The Prophet’, owned by Elvis Presley.
If you haven’t yet had the opportunity to read ‘The Prophet’, we highly recommend it, and the fact that this text is still in print and has been translated into over 100 languages is a testament to its popularity. Many people find his writing not only profound but soothing and almost meditative.
