On April 21, 2024, Molly Ticehurst, a 28-year-old mother and beloved assistant teacher at a childcare center in Forbes, was found dead inside a home on Young Street. Molly had moved back to Forbes almost ten years ago to raise her son Nate. Her death marks at least the 24th woman allegedly murdered by a man in Australia this year. The community was shocked by the news, and many parents learned of it while dropping off their children at the childcare center where Molly worked. A man has been arrested in Fifield, a town northwest of Forbes, and taken into custody.
