As Ramadan 2024 approaches, Muslims across Australia are preparing for a month of reflection, prayer, and community. This year, a variety of events are being organised to celebrate the holy month and the festive day of Eid ul-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan.

New South Wales is set to host “Ramadan Nights Lakemba,” a vibrant night market running from March 9 to April 8, where visitors can enjoy a taste of Middle Eastern cuisine and culture. The Michael Clarke Recreation centre is hosting a Ramadan Shopping Festival on March 30. Additionally, the “Most Blessed Nights” event will offer spiritual gatherings every Thursday to Sunday until April 7.

In Victoria, The Somali Community’s Annual Ramadan Iftar Dinner is scheduled for March 22, promising a night of unity and celebration. The Koomail Tardy Community Centre is hosting its own Ramadan Shopping Festival on March 30. The Australia Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry is hosting an Iftar dinner on March 27 to celebrate Ramadan in the spirit of friendship and hospitality.

Queensland will not be left behind, with the APNA & SBS Eid Fest and Diversity Award set for April 12, recognizing the contributions of the diverse Muslim community.

South Australia is also joining in with the “Eid Ul Fitr Grand Dinner” on April 20, bringing together people from various backgrounds to share in the joyous occasion.

These events reflect the multicultural tapestry of Australia and provide an opportunity for all Australians to engage with the Muslim community, learn about their traditions, and join in the celebrations of Ramadan and Eid ul-Fitr.
