The Andalus Arabic Choir and Murex Media present a Tribute to Ziad Rahbani
For the first time in Australia, a tribute will be held to the music of Ziad Rahbani, one of the undisputed icons of Middle Eastern 20th century music. The concert will be held on Friday 8 November & Saturday 9 November at 7.30pm at Bryan Brown Theatre, Bankstown. Tickets will range from $75 per ticket to $125 per ticket. The songs featured are stylistically influenced by Lebanon’s own cultural and historical events, a reflection of that unique time, yet still relevant today. The concert will be a celebration of his vivid and nostalgic songs.
Performing artists will include the Andalus Arabic Choir, Ghada Daher-Elmowy, Chris Mousa and special guest Claude Kachi. Vocalists will be accompanied by an orchestra of elite musicians. The songs to be performed cover a broad range of styles. They range from classic Andalusian to a Gallic-style chanson, from oriental spiritual with a smooth jazz flair to a samba swing. The concert closes with an unconventional finale that sounds Ziad distinctly. From calm to intense, his music hurtles you into the depths of profound nostalgia, only to pick you up and fill you with the most joyful of feelings. Such is the power of Rahbani’s music.
