Staying at home and being confined for extended periods can put women, partners and children who are already living with violence further at risk.

The experience from overseas shows an increased risks of domestic violence during periods of isolation related to Covid-19. Some local support services are already reporting an increase in demand.

Safety advocates recommend a number of strategies to protect yourself at home, including:

?? Stay in touch with friends and family through phone, email and Facebook groups. Let someone know if you are feeling unsafe.
?? Identify areas of your home where you can safely retreat to defuse tense situations
