The Boodjamulla National Park formerly known as the Lawn Hill National Park has reopened for the first time since the severe floods back in March 2023.

The national park is a popular outback tourist destination located in the Shire of Burke, Queensland, Australia. Visitors can explore the beautiful oasis either by walking or canoeing, while enjoying spectacular views of the fiery red gorges and stunning clear blue waters.

The park features a Riversleigh fossil deposit, dubbed as one of the great wonders of the paleontological world by renowned historian Sir David Attenborough.

Each year, visitors from various regions flocked to the park; however, in March 2023, the Gregory River experienced a significant flood that devastated both the trees and the tourist facilities. This unforeseen natural disaster not only disrupted the tourism opportunities but also posed a considerable challenge for park management as they began the arduous process of recovery and restoration.

Following an extensive restoration project that cost several million dollars, the national park reopened its gates on July 4th. As tourists flock to the outback during this vibrant season, the park aims to provide an unforgettable experience, showcasing its unique flora and fauna, as well as offering a range of activities that highlight the region’s rich cultural heritage.
